Carlos Latorre

Born in Riobamba, Ecuador, in 1985.

He travels to Italy, where he studies at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, training in pictorial techniques, art history, and philosophy.

Through his interest in psychology, he discovers C. Jung’s book Synchronicity, which sparks his reflection on how this phenomenon could be measured through technology.

In Spain, he studies at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, focusing his practice on pictorial techniques and sculpture.

Upon returning to his home country, his work shifts toward realism, seeking to resemble the sublimated reality of the object as closely as possible.

In the United States, he applies the concept of organic painting to sculpture, working with fruits, gold leaf, and resins. His intention is to preserve matter for as long as possible, making the imprint of time visible and opening ontological questions about permanence and transformation.

He is currently working on the development of Mentaltext, an application that uses the principle of synchronicity to recognize those moments when two people connect their thoughts and emotions in ways that coincide meaningfully, and not merely by chance.

It is a technology that transforms an intangible phenomenon into measurable information, opening a new channel of communication between people.

He lives and works in Baltimore, Maryland.
